Are Teinnovations Machines Medical Grade? Here’s What That Really Means
At PACK EXPO 2026, a few people at our booth asked: Can your sealing machines be used for medical packaging?
Here’s something that surprises a lot of people: there’s no official “medical grade” label for a sealing machine. No one hands out a stamp of approval. What really matters is whether a machine can make a strong, reliable seal every single time and whether you can prove it.
Our earlier post, Beyond Food: What Makes Medical & Sterile Packaging Different, talked about medical packaging materials. This one is about the machines.
Why the seal matters so much
Think about a sterile medical device, like a surgical tool or a catheter. The package has to keep it completely clean from the factory to the hospital. If the seal fails, germs can get in. That’s a risk to patients, not just a product problem.
That’s why medical companies have to test and prove that their sealing process works. They check that:
- The machine is set up correctly.
- It still makes good seals even when settings are pushed to their limits.
- It makes good seals day after day in real production.
The medical company does this testing, but the right machine makes the job much easier.
What to look for in a sealing machine
- Steady, accurate settings. Heat, pressure, and sealing time should stay consistent every cycle.
- Built-in warnings. The machine should alert you if something drifts off target.
- Easy to check and adjust. You should be able to confirm the machine is reading accurately.
- Good record-keeping. Medical companies need paperwork to prove their process works.
- Easy to clean. Many medical products are packed in very clean rooms.
- Custom parts. The machine should be able to seal your package evenly all the way around.
So, are our machines medical grade?
The honest answer is that it depends on what you’re packaging. Since “medical grade” is really about the whole process, the better question is whether a machine is the right fit for your product and your requirements.
That’s a conversation we’d love to have. Every medical project is different. We’d rather learn what you’re sealing and what you need first, then talk through the machines, parts, and materials that make sense.
Good questions to ask any equipment partner
- Has this machine been used for medical packaging before?
- How does it keep heat, pressure and timing steady?
- What happens if something goes off target?
- Can you customize it for our package?
